A volunteer policeman foiled a stabbing attack in the town of Lapid, near Modiin, on Saturday night. The volunteer spotted an Arab man acting suspiciously and called on him to stop.
The Arab approached and attempted to stab the volunteer, who managed to overpower him and take his knife. The attacker was arrested, and a second knife was found on his person. He was taken to security services for questioning.
A police officer was moderately wounded and a civilian killed in a similar attack in Jerusalem last week.
